America's Shocking Health Statistics |

Have you ever taken the time to look at some of the health statistics at the World Health Organization website? I have, and I was shocked by some of the health statistics concerning the United States. Did you know that sixty-three percent of Americans have a BMI of over 25.00 and are therefore considered overweight? Worse still, a staggering 31% of Americans are obese because their BMI is greater than 30.00. Furthermore, WHO health statistics show that childhood obesity in the United States has more than tripled in the past twenty years. In fact, obesity is actually responsible for 300,000 deaths every year in this country. Anybody who has read enough health articles knows that obesity has a devastating impact on overall wellness. Therefore if you are obese, you should do something about it. If you wish to lose weight, you must eat healthily and exercise regularly. Make sure you do at least half an hour of cardiovascular exercise three times per week and also find time for some resistance work with weights. Change your diet to eliminate junk food, sugary drinks and processed goods. Instead, drink water, low fat organic milk or diet soda and opt for whole foods like fresh fruits, herbs, vegetables and lean white meat or fish. Being fit and healthy doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to look like the fitness models you see on television and in magazines. Instead, it is about making exercise and healthy eating a part of your daily routine so that you can live a long life free of disease and discomfort.
