fitness models, fitness babesThe media is full of images of fitness models. We see fitness babes in magazines, on the web and on TV with regular monotony. A sensible person is inspired by these images of fitness babes in a healthy way. When I see these images of fitness models on TV and while browsing the web, it makes me more determined to follow the advice given in health articles so that I can keep in shape. However, sometimes these images of fitness models have a negative impact on people. Women and girls who are significantly overweight may suffer with self-esteem issues due to seeing these fitness models wherever they look. Other women and adolescent girls may be inspired to lose weight by seeing pictures of fitness babes but end up taking their diet plans too far. The more vulnerable and impressionable you are, the more likely it is that you will develop an eating disorder in the endeavor to emulate these fitness babes the media seems to celebrate. I don’t believe that the media should stop showing images of fitness models, but I do think it is high time that women of all shapes, sizes and ages were celebrated so that we could all feel beautiful.
