Health Articles Linking Happiness With Physical Health |

Some of the latest health articles I’ve read are making a connection between physical health and mental health. These health articles claim that the happier one is the better physical health one may find himself or herself in. The information on these health articles is supposedly taken from the latest scientific studies in health, which have found that our bodies tend to produce “harming” hormones when we are under stress and produce “healthy” hormones when we are happy. These health articles claim that cortisol, a hormone released when we are under stress, tends not only to suppress our immune system, but also to make us fatter by sending the body a signal to store fat in the belly. On the other hand, the health articles claim that when we avoid the production of cortisol and improve the production of “happy” hormones like serotonin, your immune system works at optimal level and when combined with low levels of cortisol, will prevent a lot of fat from being stored in the belly. It seems that health statistics support this theory since heart attacks and large mid sections have been linked to people who live high-stress lives. Now, not all people who live stressful lives will conform to these health statistics, but they do have an increased chance of being part of them. I think, if the connection between, physical health and mental health is true, we should all invest some time in learning relaxation techniques.
