Shocking Childhood Obesity Health Statistics |

I quite often read health articles because they are generally very informative. It is through reading these articles that I find out interesting facts such as certain health statistics. For instance I was reading a health article recently and I found out that around sixty percent of children in the United States are considered obese because their body mass index is greater than thirty. Of all health statistics the one for childhood obesity in this country may be the most shocking. Parents here in the US desperately need to do something if they do not want their children to develop obesity related ailments such as hypertension, heart disease and type two diabetes. Young children cannot be expected to have control over their own diet. It is up to the parents to ensure that they monitor what their child is eating and make sensible choices while shopping for groceries. For example if there are no fatty or sugary snacks in your home then your child can’t eat them. Similarly if you cook nutritious meals from scratch using whole unprocessed foods then you can control the calories in the meals that you serve. Unless parents decide to do something about this serious problem the health statistics pertaining to childhood obesity are set to become even worse in the future.
